so i've set up my freenas and am starting to transfer files to my box, and i'm only getting 10mbps read/write to the device.

everything is connected via my router through cat 5e connections and my router is a netgear wnr2000-100nar wireless n router. i'm not 100% sure on what the top speeds should be, but i presume that it should be faster than this. anyone help me out with where my bottle necks may be (software vs hardware). i'm kind of new at this and would love the help troubleshooting

thanks

Although you didn't specify your FreeNAS hardware/software per the forum rules, your router with it's 4 x 10/100M ports is the bottleneck.

Assuming you have gigabit NIC's in your server and workstation, pick up a gigabit switch and connect your computers into it. Then connect the switch to your router.
