Seems like every other thread in this forum is about AD, well unfortunately here is mine too. I already looked through most of the threads I could find offering ideas on how to get FreeNAS to connect to AD but everything I tried was without success. I have a new DC running on 2012R2 Standard. Domain is created, looks to be working as expected. I am able to join and DNS using any other workstation/server on the network. I'd like to get my CIFS shares working so I tried connecting FreeNAS to the domain, but all it says is "The service failed to start".

/var/log/messages output

Problem solved. Forcing a NTP sync to the domain controller did the trick.
