  • was running FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201509160044
  • successfully performed an update to latest STABLE chain last week
  • was running with no issues then yesterday got this error in my email "cannot open 'freenas-boot/ROOT': pool I/O is currently suspended", server was hung up
  • latest base will not boot, hangs at 'mounting local file system' then restarts
  • reverting back one to '201509160044' allows for successful reboot
  • under this version I attempt to apply the latest update but freenas errors with "unable to mount boot environment"
  • it seems that freenas is not re-downloading/installing the latest updates, but trying to boot the existing newest (failed) one
What would be some recommended steps to get everything back on track?
Is there a way to delete the newest base and force freenas to completely reinstall it?
Or are there any other suggestions?

Thanks for any assistance!

Sounds like corrupted boot drive.

Try to reinstall to a new drive and import your config.
