Hi all,

I’m trying to get a rough idea of the rebuild time of a zfs raid 5 array of 40tb on hard disks, not ssd.if a hard disk failed and was replaced.
I’ve found a post on freenas7 and it quotes 5500 minutes, about 3.8 days, for a similar sized pool, which would be ok.
Is this still valid for truenas core? The server is a dell t340 with 32 gb ram and 2 pools one pool is 40 tv from 5x8TB, currently raid 0,, that will be destroyed and made from 6x 8tb, the other pool is 4x 14tb disk. Would the 4x14tb be a similar time?
Thanks for your help

There is no RAID 5 in ZFS. Neither is there RAID 0. What exactly are you running? A qualified answer is not possible without that information.

I’ve set up the vdevs in a stripe, equivalent to a raid 0 stripe, and am moving to the equivalent of raid 5, raidz1. When I say equivalent I’m referring to 6 disks of 8tb, but only having a useable of 40tb with 8tb used for parity. I want to go from a 5x8TB “stripe” to a 6x8tb redundant solution, but with 40tb usable.
