Replacing drives with high capacities in existing pool

HI! I have a pool that consists of two vdevs striped, each vdev contains 2 3TB drives mirrored. Is there any way to start swapping out the 3TB drives for 4TB or 6TB drives?

1. Off-line one disk
2. Power off server
3. Swap out the offline disk with new disk
4. Power on
5. Re-silver the offline disk with the new one
6. Rince and repeat

Do you have spare ports for any new disks, and hot-plug hardware and does the server have to stay up? Then:

1. Insert new disk(s)
2. Re-silver 1st disk...
3. Off-line old disk(s)
4. Rince and repeat

Power off of the system is only necessary if your system hasn't got hot-plug bays.
