So after months of having absolutely no issues with freeNAS I cleaned out the dusty box where it was installed. Power up and get:

Can't open /var/tmp/rc.conf.freenas: No such file or directory
Enter full pathname of shell or RETURN for bin/sh:

I did some googling of someone who had the same issue and the solution was to reformat. My question is, since I didn't detach my array/volume am I going to lose everything on it? The current version installed is 8.3.0 and the version I'm going to install is 9.2.1.1.

Thanks in advanced.

You won't lose anything.. you just import your config file(assuming you had a backup) or follow the FreeNAS manual for the auto-importing of pools.
