Read HDD with USB connector

Hi,
my old pc with freenas 9.3 it is broke and i need to read a file saved in a Hdd.
I try to read with external usb adapter but i can't! i try using a pc with windows 7 and it can't recognized the disk. I try using ubuntu and i can see the volume in list of resources but can't mount the volume.

there were someone to know who to read that hdd?

You'll need to use an operating system that can read ZFS (eg another FreeNAS system, FreeBSD, a Linux system with ZFS installed, etc.)

You're probably restricted to FreeNAS 9.3 and FreeBSD 9.3+, since ZFS on Linux still seems to be missing some feature flags.

I have e found a pc-freebsd on Internet. Can i use it in virtual box?

If you are referring to PC-BSD, then yes.. that should work fine. Current version is 10.1.2.
