Older technology will use more power and make more heat. If you can deal with it, that is not really a problem. The 2.5 inch drive bays might limit your options, but you can get 4TB drives in this format and that could give you around 40TB of storage after parity.
Depending on what you're looking for, this could be all you need.

If noise is a concern, then you might want to take that into consideration.

On a personal preference, I would still avoid using 2.5" bays since you will not get as much bang for your buck compared to buying 3.5" drives still. *** I have two servers I bought over a year ago that house 12 x 2.5" drives each that are still waiting for SSD prices to get to where I can populate them... :(
