Question about system alert

Hey everyone,

I logged into my freenas box the other day and I wanted to confirm what I'm reading is what I think it is.

I have 3 alerts on my system that I need help with. I've pasted the alerts down below. My fear is that I have two failing drives on my setup that I need to replace.

If someone could help that would be awesome!

CRITICAL: March 7, 2018, 11:45 p.m. - Device: /dev/ada3, 2 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors
CRITICAL: March 9, 2018, 12:50 a.m. - Device: /dev/ada4, unable to open device
CRITICAL: March 7, 2018, 11:47 p.m. - The volume tank state is DEGRADED: One or more devices has experienced an error resulting in data corruption. Applications may be affected.

Correct. Do it ASAP. This is also a good time to verify your backups.

Edit: and if you logging into your system was the first you saw those errors, you need to get email alerts working.

Thanks for the responses.

I know I need to get some other things setup which includes email alerting.

I do have one more question - can I replace 1 drive at a time to avoid trying to swap both drives at the same time?

Potentially, yes, but you're already dealing with data loss.

Awesome - so I'll be swapping some drives soon. I'll just do it one at a time.
