Hello. This is Niladri from India. I am trying to connect my freenas in virtualbox to my enterprise server 2012 domain (windows). My global configuration and active directory configuration is given in as attachments as the forum doesnt allow to add pics.

when I try to turn the directory services on it doesnt gets on. The log shows-
Oct 2 22:42:17 freenas ActiveDirectory: /usr/sbin/service ix-pam quietstart Oct 2 22:42:17 freenas ActiveDirectory: /usr/sbin/service ix-kinit quietstart Oct 2 22:42:17 freenas ActiveDirectory: AD_init: config exists, loading values from /etc/directoryservice/ActiveDirectory/config Oct 2 22:42:17 freenas ActiveDirectory: kerberos_start: kinit --password-file=/ tmp/tmp.Fgy2eYMN administrator@**HM.LOCAL Oct 2 22:42:17 freenas ActiveDirectory: kerberos_start: Failed Oct 2 22:42:26 freenas avahi-daemon[15368]: Invalid response packet from host 1 92.168.25.76. Oct 2 22:42:27 freenas ActiveDirectory: /usr/sbin/service ix-kinit status Oct 2 22:42:27 freenas ActiveDirectory: AD_init: config exists, loading values from /etc/directoryservice/ActiveDirectory/config Oct 2 22:42:27 freenas ActiveDirectory: kerberos_status: klist -l | grep -q ^ad ministrator@**HM.LOCAL Oct 2 22:42:27 freenas ActiveDirectory: kerberos_status: Failed

Sorry I grayed out certain portions to hide my company details. Forgive me for that.

I am using 9.1.1
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciatedly. Thanks a lot

I edited your post and removed a company name you hadn't removed.

Is this a test or expected to be a long term build? I'm asking because FreeNAS shouldn't be installed in Virtualbox except for testing.

Is your dns correct?
dns must be the internal dns from active directory

To cyberjock- Yes just for testing purposes. If this is successful I will try to install Freenas in a machine to use it for a backup location in my office.

To Zfrank- Yes I did include an A record entry in my server's DNS forward lookup zone.

Thanks for replying friends

Please reply, friends. I am really in a fix. Even small suggestions would help

The only advice I can give is to use the FreeNAS manual. Some things are just too complex to try to fix via forum setting.

But my friend I did try to join AD as directed in the official documentations but to no avail. HTTP graphical tools are not working. Any other suggestions then?
