The only thing I don't get is that they all say to run tests and detach it but mine does not show up. So, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it.

See, there is no OFFLINE for it? Just replace? So I should just shut it down, replace it and hit replace?

If the drive is fully dead it gets auto offline for you. So shut down, find the correct drive using serial number, put new drive in, boot system, select replace in that screen and select your new disk.
