I am complete newbie to NAS and probably going to ask dumb questions. I have a 2nd hard drive in my pc and just wanted to use it for videos/movies, is it possible to do this in the NAS format? The pc is vista home premium 2gb ram and intel quad processor, advice please.

Me thinks you don't understand the job of a NAS....
you cant run FreeNAS and another operating system at the same time on the same system (before the virtualization fans pipe in, yes i know....but lets keep this simple for the newbie)
