Hi all,

Just wanted to ask if this is normal. I've added a second USB drive and attempted to mirror the boot USB. All seems to be going well, but it's crazily slow and now showing more than 100% complete but still going. Should I just leave it or is something wrong...?

pool: freenas-boot
state: ONLINE
status: One or more devices is currently being resilvered. The pool will
continue to function, possibly in a degraded state.
action: Wait for the resilver to complete.
scan: resilver in progress since Fri Dec 23 12:13:02 2016
651M scanned out of 650M at 31.2K/s, (scan is slow, no estimated time)
651M resilvered, 100.27% done
config:

NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
freenas-boot ONLINE 0 0 0
mirror-0 ONLINE 0 0 0
da0p2 ONLINE 0 0 0
da1p2 ONLINE 0 0 0 (resilvering)

Yep - that's now 6 hours to mirror 650MB !

BTW - the USB drives are a matched pair brought at the same time.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Your USB sticks might be bunk. I had a similar experience when I was using no name sticks.

I bought (on the recommendation from the boards + chat) SanDisk Ultra Fit and they have worked out great.

Check your error logs to make sure the mirror was created sucessfully. I had some problems when I was replacing mine (but I'm on 9.3 latest version). I had to manually make the sticks bootable.

Well, these are Verbatim sticks (I've had some issues with a Scandisk !) and I can see nothing in the logs to suggest any issues. I have booted off the first stick OK (before I mirrored it) and the summary above shows no errors.

I'll try booting off the second stick tomorrow to check it's OK.
