minidlna: PS3 not scanning new files

Alright! I have to post this question. It's been driving me crazy!

Do you REALLY have to stop > restart the minidlna service in order for the PS3 system to view new files that you have added to your list?

Whenever I use a CIFS share to drop in new files, the PS3 doesn't seem to see them until I restart the server.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Yes you do..I have an original xbox (UPNP/CIFS).. PS3 (UPNP).. 1 gigabit windows 7 ultimate wired gaming pc (CIFS).. 1 wireless windows 7 starter netbook (CIFS).. 1 ubuntu desktop using NFS only..

There is a script you can run (I don't run it) that will auto reload minidlna I believe.. Haven't looked at it indepth.. If it's not restarting it's using the inotify or something.. Or a combination etc.. See search - Minidlna autoscan.
