Hello,

I've added a Intel EXPI9301CT card in my already running freenas system but it's not being recognized.
Can someone tell me what i am doing wrong?
Thanx!

Does rebooting fix it? If not, post the output of ifconfig.

Reboot does not work. This is the output of ifconfig:
[root@Freenas ~]# ifconfig em0: flags=8c02<BROADCAST,OACTIVE,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500 options=4219b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,VLAN_HWCSUM,TSO4,WOL _MAGIC,VLAN_HWTSO> ether 68:05:ca:19:9e:ec media: Ethernet autoselect status: no carrier re0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500 options=209b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,VLAN_HWCSUM,WOL_MAGIC > ether bc:5f:f4:ac:a3:74 inet 192.168.2.150 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255 media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT <full-duplex>) status: active lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 16384 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x8 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 nd6 options=3<PERFORMNUD,ACCEPT_RTADV> [root@Freenas ~]#

Sure does look like its detected.. see em0? But it says no carrier which means there's no cable attached to it. Usually that's user error. ;)

But when i attach a cable to it i'm still not able to add an interface. How come?

Define "add an interface". What are you trying to do, receive an IP from a DHCP server? Something else? What does ifconfig look like when the cable is plugged in?

What i'm actually trying to do is use my new intel NIC instead of the NIC in my motherboard, but when i boot freenas with the new NIC connected i cannot communicate with freenas anymore.
How can i tell freenas to use the new NIC?

Either plugin the original cable and configure em0 via the webgui or configure it (option 1) from the server console.

Thanx man! It finally works!
Is it also possible to connect 1 computer to the NIC on my motherboard en another computer to my new PCI NIC?
