I was looking at network speeds and reading and trying to understand how LAGG works. My original understanding was wrong. I was under the impression they actually joined the speed to make it faster but alas. No dice. So I was looking at 10GBe but the price of that is wow. So I was looking for other options and found infiniband.

Most of the options were even more ridiculously priced. I found this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00B...qid=1387784448&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 or this on http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002X7OZBS/ref=pd_aw_sbs_4?pi=SL500_SS115and was hoping if any one knew whether or not it would work. I also wanted to know if I need a switch as well or if I could do point to point. I.e Main PC to NAS or do I need a switch in there.

Thanks again for the help. Looking forward to the responses.

Per the manual there is no infiniband support. You'll need to get 10Gb LAN to get higher speeds. :(

I thought I read somewhere that someone had hacked it in to work. If I remember correctly it worked in free bsd 9.1.

Found the link http://acadix.biz/infiniband.php. is this still in dev or has it progressed to use able now?

Not sure I saw anyone hack it to work. Just because FreeBSD supports it doesn't mean FreeNAS does. Search the manual for "infiniband" and you'll get a comment like "the following is not supported in FreeNAS: Inifiniband....

Thanks for the help. Yeah I saw the manual and realized the official not supported. But thought maybe some one had got a specific card to work.
