First serious home/work FreeNAS box build

I think cyberjock's thread is about building a standalone pfsense box. It certainly should be possible to install it in a VM, but I'm not sure about a jail.

Pretty sure you couldn't run pfsense in a jail since the kernel of the jail matches the host and pfsense is on 8.x while FreeNAS is 9.x. It should be possible to run in a VM, but again, basic security policy dictates that you shouldn't be virtualizing security appliances. But I'm sure there's a bunch of people that will do it anyway. :P

ya I mean this thing is sitting in my house im not all that concerned I live out in the boonies next to a vineyard pf sense really is just icing on the cake.
if you can run virtual box in a jail with virtual machines then being able to run pf sense in virtual box with its own designated nics dosent sound like its too complicated.
