last four years i am using FreeNas as File server(SMB) & Media server(Plex) with almost no issues.
Because i am new in linux and NAS systems, my first instalation was not bad, but not good as i want :).
I decided to make a new instalation according to best practices, etc.
I would like to do it withou any "service loosing" i mean, during the reinstalation all home members be able to using Plex & Shares.
My idea was:
1] run second FreeNas instalation onto older PC
- install Freenas onto older PC
- clone 3TB Storage disk with movies & other files onto another 3TB disk
- import cloned disk into FreeNas in older PC
- map SMB & Plex server onto cloned disk
- home users will have their services available
2] create a new instalation of FreeNas onto server
- System instalation will be according to best practices an my ideas
- old 3TB disk will be wiped and all folders will be created again......an files will be copied
So this is my idea how to do it. Of course, all files can be copied onto new disk manually, but there are to many folders and files - it will take a long time.
Is this a good way or not?
Now,
i am running second Freenas and want to import a cloned disk with data.
Is it possible? What is a correct procedure? Import Disk first, then import volume?
When i am trying immport disk, i have problem with specifying a mount point and i have to choose a partition. I am confused.

FreeNas Server specs(this i will need to reinstall);
- System: FreeNAS-11.2-U4.1
- CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU J3160 @ 1.60GHz (4 cores)
- RAM: 16GB RAM
- Storage: 1x 3TB WD RED(primary) + 1x 1TB WD Green(backup)
- System disk: 1x 128GB SSD 3DNOW
FreeNas PC specs(this i will want use to span the server outage):
- System FreeNAS-11.2-U4.1
- CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz (4 cores)
- RAM: 8 GB
- Storage: 1x 3TB WD RED
- System disk: 1x 512GB ???
