Hello,

I have a zpool on ubuntu using zfs on linux. I'm thinking of moving to FreeNAS and was wondering if I can import this zpool into FreeNAS - rather than backing up data then re-creating on FreeNAS?

From what I gather, I think so, but would like to check before I try. Of course I could backup and then try but it'll take a while to backup...

Thanks.

What version does ZFS on Linux have? You will need to use 8.3 if the pool is ZFS v28. Otherwise, yes you should be able to import it.

The package site says it uses zpool version 28 (and zfs version 5), so with 8.3 I should be good.

Thank you. I look forward to using FreeNAS :)

Do yourself a favor: run the appropriate zfs and zpool commands on your linux server first, to confirm the details.
