Unfortunately my FreeNAS setup is out of order since my motherboard died today.

I've attached one of its disks to my Ubuntu 14 notebook in order to restore the DATA. (I do have backups but I'm not able to access them for the moment).

ZFS is installed in Ubuntu:
root@thinkpad:/home/ddegendt# dmesg | grep ZFS
[ 5521.500383] ZFS: Loaded module v0.6.3-4~trusty, ZFS pool version 5000, ZFS filesystem version 5

When I try to import the zpool, I get the following error:
root@thinkpad:/home/ddegendt# zpool import DATAMIRROR -f
This pool uses the following feature(s) not supported by this system:
com.delphix:hole_birth
com.delphix:embedded_data
cannot import 'DATAMIRROR': unsupported version or feature

How can I enable these features in Ubuntu? As I have read elsewhere, these features have not been implemented yet? Someone who knows how it can be done?

You can't. You'll have to wait for ZFS on Linux to support them or mount the pool on FreeBSD/FreeNAS.

Could I install FreeNAS on an old laptop and then import the disk (which is in external USB casing) out of the box?

You can try. Move the boot drive to your laptop and boot from it with your drive attached. Cross your fingers that your laptop has compatible hardware.
