Hiya,

I had a setup in Corral and after finding out its dead, I have reverted back to 9.10. I had a disk with encryption on the Corral setup, I know the passphrase but do not have the encryption key file, and the wizard will not let me progress with out it.

Any suggestions? I am okay to import the volume via the CLI but I am unsure of the commands

Unless you're a company that is REQUIRED to follow compliance, never encrypt volumes.

Can you still boot into the Corral installation that you had?
I can reinstall corrall I assume and import the volume there?

Or will I still need that key file? I had not needed it before when working only within corral, I just entered the paraphrase.

No, you will need the key. As I wrote above, if you don't have, and can't get, the key, your data is gone. That's kind of the point of encryption.

Okay.

I had assumed the passphrase was enough.

Thanks for the info

Is the passphrase used to decrypt the keyfile?

Yes.

Just like the lock on a door, you need the key to get in. And the password is like a lock box that prevents someone from walking by and just opening the door with the key.
