How to use green_saver.ko?

I turned on the screen saver option in the advance of Settings.
It loads "daemon_saver". I'd like to use green_saver so that the console would go into power save mode if I'm not around.
Also, I'd like to use smaller font on the console.
Editing /etc/rc.conf does not stick. How can I change the console font?
