Hi everyone.
After, would you believe it, 13 years my old Buffalo NAS has died. A friend suggested building my own rather than buying off the shelf again, so here I am looking at FreeNAS.
Having studied the hardware requirements I have spent my cash and while waiting for the kit to arrive, I am reading as much as I can. Currently working my way through cyberjock's FreeNAS guide as well as the manual.
Before I gave up the rat race my day job was Network and Firewall Engineer for a large multinational corporate, but now I live in France and enjoy being my own boss!
Looking forward to good experiences with FreeNAS.
