Hi to everyone
Im new to the Forum ..but not new to FreeNas ...having used it for several years now ..
But recently tried to include some larger hard drives 3tb + for more data storage space ..
This led to issues as I was and still am using UFS to a large degree ..
I therefore built a later system having gone from version 7xx to 9.2 as it is now ..
9.2 being chosen deliberately it being the last version to support UFS.
I have an enormous amount of stored data ..so was reluctant to complete the move to ZFS.
My system is totally stable ...or at least it was...until I had a very abrupt power outage .
..resulting in many hours of disk/data repair.
All now sorted ..but I didnt want to go through that again so bought a PowerCool 1500VA UPS ..
My problem now is how to connect it having never used one before.
Does Freenas 9.2 even support this UPS ..?
I have found the relevant section in the webgui ...but sadly PowerCool doesn't appear in the list.
Are there drivers I can add to give me support ?
Many thanks for reading this.
..and hopefully I can get some help on this issue.
I'm including a picture of the UPS

Hi dlavigne
Sadly No ..
Unless the ups is sold under another name ..
Not in the list ..so can't select it.
So
..am I the only person to buy one of these ?
I did use the search box ..entering 'powercool' ...
no results ..
doh
Perhaps too new to be in the list ..
just my luck.

btw ..this unit is usb only ..
no serial connection to PC

You could connect the USB to another computer on the network and have FreeNAS monitor it remotely. FreeNAS would still get all the ups info and you would have two computers plugged into the ups.

..An option I'd considered already ..and might well do just that.
The only things that is putting me off are accessibility..and power consumption.
As the Freenas server is physically distant from any PC.
I guess Id have to run another pc 24/7 in close proximity to he NAS ...or at least a laptop.
Not an ideal or very 'green' setup but workable I guess.

As long as you can run NUT on the PC it's ok. So you can use a Raspberry Pi, very cheap and needs only a few watts ;)
