Hi, I'm new here and for the first post would like to say "HELLO EVERYBODY" =D

Anyways the title is pretty much is my question.
Should I go with
1. e3-1230v2 with x9scm motherboard
2. e3-1230v3 with x10sll motherboard

I believe with x10sll one could use 1600mhz ram while x9scm 1333mhz is the max. Though not sure if the speed difference would be noticeable at all. Also the v2 cpu does have a lower tdp at 69 then the v3 at 80 which could be something to lean towards to v2.

Any suggestions? (From what I can tell I think either set up will preform almost identical except the ivybridge is cheaper)

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I got two E3-1225 v3 here with the integrated GPU (in use). They're idling at 2W each. Even under full load the sensors tell me only ~45W CPU consumption.

There's really no engineering reason to go with Ivy Bridge instead of Haswell.

The price difference between the two is minimal. I would price out a full build of each and see the cost. If it was me buying I would always go with the newer technology.

Thanks everyone! and from what I can see from the poll, Haswell should be the direction I go I think for the price it will be about $50 more.

Just one last quick question.
Would this ram kit CT2KIT102472BD160B be compatible with the supermicro x10sll?

Read the Supermicro X10 RAM guide (link is in my sig).
