My FreeNAS box (currently 9.2.1.3 - yes I need to update) is only sharing files via FTPS at the moment. The users accessing the box all run Windows, and use FileZilla. Recently I read about some of the issues regarding permissions, ACL's, etc.
I was wondering, when I create a Dataset with only Windows Filezilla FTP use in mind, should I be selecting Windows as the Share type? I have previously been using Unix and I don't believe there have been any problems, but if there is a best practice in place, I want to use it.
Also, if the Windows variety of ACL's are preferable given my use, and if I don't have data in directories and sub-directories currently, is there any risk to changing the ACL's from Unix to Windows / Mac?
Thanks,
