FTP File Permissions

Hi all,

I am able to connect to FTP no issues, however, for some reason the FTP File permissions is changing itself Its automatically unchecking the execute boxes so ftp is unable to access files.

Additionally why when I change the permissions to read only as I do not want FTP to delete or add anything! It does it not let me connect, it seems its all or nothing.

Please help I am ready for smashing the dang thing.
