I don't map a drive, but just have network sees FreeNAS where my CIFS is setup for guest, and my Volume is all nobody/nogroup.

Anyway, all my media gets "offline" from Win8.1 file browsing, then comes back and goes offline. Seems like a Samba/CIFs issue as my Win7 has no issues.

Anyone with Win 8.1 have this issue?

I think it was due to nobody/nogroup being special user/groups and Windows doing a "huh?"

I redid to guest/guest and so far I see no drops.

Thanks!

I don't use any authentication on my cifs share because I map drive letters to the directories that my wife and kid can mess up. Snapshots and backups FTW

So my user/group is nobody/nogroup also and it works fine

Try this if you can. Make one //freenas/directory like photos sync offline in Win 8.1. I do that so my screen saver of photos is always available.

If you do that and click on the photos then I see "offline" and when I backed out the others were grey 'x'. I closed and opened explorer and all is fine. I think that's the issue with nobody/nogroup + sync, but it's fine with guest/guest.
