I went through the wiki and found the instructions for upgrading through the GUI in Chrome. Did so. I downloaded FreeNAS-11.0-RELEASE.debug.txz since it was being advertised on the site. I also the the SHA file to go with it. Did the manual update and uploaded the .txz and waited patiently and nervously. Watched the terminal and it did all the database stuff, restarted, the boot list was still listing 9.10. I waited patiently and it restarted again and booted back into 9.10 stable. I wanted 11. Did I do something way wrong? I followed the instruction, backed up the database, downloaded the most recent txz and uploaded it to the server through the GUI.

HELP! It plain old didn't work. Or do I have to do it again?

Post a screenshot of your System -> Boot. Also, what are the system's hardware specs?

Alright. I'm following your instructions, danb35. And I went through section 2 instead of section 5 of the manual. Thanks, danb35. :) I just hope it works this time. LOL

YAY! It finally took. 11.0 STABLE. Whee! Now if only I could get another issue taken care of. I'll have to start a new thread for that, though. Thanks, again, guys. :)

I can attest to a similar behavior.
I had 9.10.2-U5 installed, went to System -> Update -> Manual update and supplied it this file: FreeNAS-11.0-U1.iso
After the update I ended up with 9.10.2-U6. How is this possible? I didn't even have the -U6 iso downloaded, so there's no way I could have misclicked on a different file.

Why? See the manual:
Manual update files can be identified by their filenames, which end in -manual-update-unsigned.tar.

Manual updates cannot be used to upgrade from older major versions.
Nothing tells you that the .iso is suitable to use for the Manual update.
