I have searched and found little about FreeNAS 10 other than it is in the works. Is there any sort of timeline as to when it will be out? This year? Next year?

Last I heard, the plan was ~1 year after 9.3.

It's supposed to be a major rewrite of the ever-important middleware, so delays may happen.

I have also done a search. The biggest source of info was Jordan's video.

Well, it's like this....

Flashback to Jan 2014. FreeNAS 9.2.1 came out. Everyone celebrated with beer and pizza and 9.2.2 and 10.x were on the horizon. 9.2.2 was expecting for an early summer 2014 released, with 10.x being a Winter 2014 or early spring 2015 release at the latest.

Since that time:

9.2.1 had something like 12 releases (the last one being in Nov 2014).
9.2.2 was totally scrapped and those milestones became 9.3.
9.3 was put on the drawing board, and initially was expected for a summer 2014 release which ended up being released in Dec 2014. It is still being heavily developed and there's been something like 10+ updates since it was released in mid December.

So throw a dart at a calendar. That's how accurate our guesses would be.

9.2.1.x was drug out for 11 months. That was never expected, desired, etc.

9.3 may or may not see the same fate. Development of 10 could be much shorter or much longer than expected even if 9.3 doesn't get drug out with a dozens more updates.

So when? Not today. Tomorrow isn't looking so good either. ;)

Ok - thanks for the back story. While the hardware I am using now is holding up well (for my purposes), I think I may just have to celebrate 10 with a purchase of the recommended hardware (ECC memory, Supermicro MB, etc)...

Hard to save money with a 454. They have an unparalleled ability to burn fuel. Seems like it is in something really cool from what I can tell.

True - at 10mpg, I drive it about 150 miles a year as a parade car in the Indy 500 Festival Parade the day before the race. I had Pat McAfee a couple years ago. And you get to meet some interesting people, like Mario.

NICE! 73? In case you didn't notice, I'm a Caprice/Impala guy myself.

Oh and BTW, it is refreshing to see one without those dumb ass 26" rims.

72. I bought it in 1991 from the original owner with 34K miles on it. It was gold with a black top. I had a 69 427 Caprice too, but didn't drive it much and needed the room. I still miss it. Do you have a big block in yours?

I would rather have my appendix removed with a warm spoon than be caught with those rims...

I bought my first 1995 Caprice 9C1 in 2002. Now I have a different 95 as well as a 94. They came stock with the Corvette LT1. I have never built an engine for one yet. When I do it will be an LSx (4th gen small block).

Other than that, I have modified just about everything. My daily driver has a 4.56 rear end with a manual 6 speed. And various other turn, stop, and go mods ;)

You know, I have put the hubcaps back on the the 94. I go to a bunch of Impala events. Nobody runs the hubcaps. So I kinda stand out with them.

Very nice - very clean. Whose Chevy behind it? Sheesh - look at that green grass. I keep saying I need to move where it is warmer.

He gets irritated when people ask him if they can buy it. He used it as his daily driver. All it needs is a power steering pump.

It looks like a '66 Chevelle.

I believe it is a 66. Do you drive your imp a lot? Or is it a show car?

I put around 150 miles a year on it, so it spends most of the time in storage. I have a Bonneville SSEi as a daily driver, and in the winter I have a Blazer (which is showing its age). Summer is split between a Miata and a Mustang.

And I have seen the paint used here on golf courses.
