Hi Folks,

I want to have owncloud as a VM on ESXi linked to FreeNas.

In the past I was using nextcloud as a jail within FN, now I would like to have it independet.

via https://owncloud.org/download/ Appliances you can download a "ready to use" image. Is there anyone who has experience with it?

The appliance is the easiest way to get ownCloud up and running and is best for non-technical users. It is built on UCS ("Univention Corporate Server") and is fully set up and configured with a secure connection and the ownCloud Proxy app. You can install VirtualBox, download our OVA file and load it up. See the Appliance installation instructions in the Documentation.

Does it runs smooth?
Is there anything what I should consider in terms of privacy, security etc.
Would that image require more resources, than e.g. ubuntu server with installed own cloud?

any experience, thoughts etc. are most welcome.

Cheers

To be fair your question doesn't seem to have anything to do with FreeNAS -- perhaps an OwnCloud-focused forum would be a better place to ask?

most probably you are right.
I was just in hope, that some of the few ESXi Freenas users have some experience with it.
