Hello,

I just created FreeNAS on my esxi so far it is running fine except when I try to install the owncloud plugin on FreeNAS.

I have followed this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7L7EtDpr6g

it seems to be straight forward... except for the fact that my webui does not come up.

I went ahead and read through this thread:
https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...talling-owncloud-in-freenas-or-freebsd.19605/

on the OP... I tried to check if my lighttpd is running but it doesn't seem like it is...

I got to this part:

root@owncloud_2:/ # service lighttpd onerestart
lighttpd does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup
directories (/usr/local/etc/rc.d), or is not executable
root@owncloud_2:/ #

FYI: I have FreeNAS 11.0-u3

Hi, I just installed the owncloud plugin on a FN11 box and the web server it uses is Apache and the service is apache24.

Be sure to start the service in the plugins tab after the successful installation.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I went ahead and installed lighttpd as it is lighter than apache.

now I am stuck with another wall... it looks like the new owncloud pkg only has mysql and not sqlite...

Why don't you install Nextcloud instead? It is the successor project. More secure, more features and fully open source. A tutorial how to install on FreeNAS can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60xwnoIrUTI

Nextcloud setup dialogue one offer not only be create admin account, but admin account and!!! mysql admin account and it have problems!!!

"Error while trying to create admin user: Failed to connect to the database: An exception occurred in driver: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

OwnCloud is more better one.

No, your Nextcloud installation is broken. And you just necro'd a three-year-old thread to make a completely irrelevant point.

1. I had just install that plug-in from plugin section of freenas ui. Just it doesn’t work out of a box.
2. Why must I to create double of topic, that orig one have three-year-old? That's ridiculous.

If your question had something to do with the subject matter of this thread, it might make sense to post here (though even then it probably wouldn't, because both FreeNAS and Nextcloud have been through a few major releases since 2017, so any advice given here would be unlikely to be relevant today), but it doesn't. Not in the least. Not a word of your post has anything to do with the subject of this thread. You're having a problem with your plugin installation of Nextcloud. If you want help with that, the best way to get it is to post a new thread, explaining in detail what you did, what happened (particularly including any error messages you received), and what you're having trouble with.
