Hi All,

I've had a freenas server up and running at home for nearly 3 years now and never had an issue.

There are 5 Hitachi 5k3000 in ZFS raidz1-0. zpool status returns "errors: No known data errors"

In the freenas web gui, it says : The volume tank (ZFS) status is HEALTHY

For the last few days I've started hearing a clicking from one of the drives and getting the following message by email...

SMART error (OfflineUncorrectableSector) detected

and in /var/log/messages..

freenas smartd[78385]: Device: /dev/ada0, 539 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors

So it looks like one of my drives is failing...

What do I need to do?

just pull out the bad one - replace with a new one?

Do I need to run any commands once the new drive is installed to rebuild the ZFS array?

Any easy way to tell which of my drives is ada0? just check the serial number?

Any one know of a replacement drive for Hitachi 5k3000?

No one is answering you because all of this is answered in about a thousand forum posts, and throughout the user manual for FreeNAS.

But, in answer to your last query, a good replacement drive for a Hitachi 5k3000 is a Hitachi 5k3000. They are easily available. Also, they come with a 3 year RMA warranty. You said you were on 3 years, you might still be in warranty.
