I have been running 9.2.x on my backup server for a little over 2 years with no issues on an older white box with a SuperMicro mother board, 3Ghz Xeon, 8Gb ram, two drives (3Gb/6Gb) direct to MB. FreeNas boots off of a SanDisk 16gb USB.

I recently updated to 9.3 and since have been receiving reports of a device experiencing an error resulting in data corruption. In checking zpool status I get the following.

errors: Permanent errors have been detected in the following files:
freenas-boot/ROOT/default:<0xbf9a>

I thought that the USB may be failing so I replaced with a brand new one with a fresh install of FN.
Still getting the same notices.

Any assistance appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, I am aware of the discussions which is why I bought a new USB with the fresh install of FN but am still receiving the same error.
Do you believe that my new USB is demonstrating the same problem?

USB drives have gained an atrocious reputation, so double failure is not that unlikely.

Do ensure that the image you're using for the install is undamaged (hashes are available at download.freenas.org).

Yes sir, it is possible that your "new" thumb drive is just as bad as the old one. What brand/model are they?
