No one's replied yet so I just wanted to thank you for posting this since I'll be in the market for a UPS soon.

Just remember to choose the cpcf1000pfclcd usbhid driver and all should work well.. This is most basic.. Single UPS wired with USB..

Not a problem.. How much wattage you using.. What is your expected run time with the 1000VA?

Also I'm curious what sensitivity level people are choosing.. I know low isn't recommended for electronics I believe.. See Input Transfer..

Code:
input.transfer.high: 139
input.transfer.low: 88
input.voltage: 122.0
input.voltage.nominal: 120

So I'm using 48watts. Not sure of expected runtime yet i need to let it charge fully.

I'm not sure if it is working though. /var/log/messages seems to report strange things at start up. after it was all said and done there is a pid file.
Code:

You should let it charge fully before using it.. I get 49-50 minutes estimated by the UPS.

Hmmm... Didn't see that called out anywhere in the directions. It said it won't fully work until charged but not to use it before fully charged.

I haven't actually tested the run-time in real life.. You could probably do this in command line ssh.. I know the "Long/short" tests works..

At ~50 watt usage i get a runtime of 60min.

Yatti420:
I notice you are using 2.7.1 driver how did you get this driver? What version of freenas are you running? I have version 2.6.5 and am seeing connection lost errors and "Data for UPS is stale - check driver" errors

NUT 2.7.1 is included in the latest FreeNAS release (I'm using 9.2.1.2, I'm not sure when it was updated).

I'm still seeing the same "Data is stale" errors as before, and I have the CP1000PFCLCD.

what if you cycle the UPS service with everything disconnected and then try again etc.. Does it clear out the stale data? Could it be bad USB cable?

It's an intermittent failure, and it fixes itself usually in the next second or two. Here's a snippet from my log:

Mar 15 12:01:08 ama upsd[9050]: Data for UPS [ups] is stale - check driver
Mar 15 12:01:08 ama upsd[9050]: UPS [ups] data is no longer stale
Mar 15 12:09:08 ama upsd[9050]: Data for UPS [ups] is stale - check driver
Mar 15 12:09:08 ama upsd[9050]: UPS [ups] data is no longer stale
Mar 15 13:10:26 ama upsd[9050]: Data for UPS [ups] is stale - check driver
Mar 15 13:10:28 ama upsd[9050]: UPS [ups] data is no longer stale

I haven't tried another USB cable, but it's worth a shot if I can find a spare -- I'll try it and update.

So you're not seeing any of these sorts of errors?

To confirm this is the 1000VA versus the 850VA correct? This would be in the messages log?
