CRITICAL: Device: /dev/ada0, 1 Offline uncorrectable sectors

Hi All

I am running my first FreeNas box and have started very simple in order to get my head around it first.
I am only using a single drive with a single volume created on it. No critical data.

It has been running very well until yesterday when this error came up:

Drive is starting to fail. Since this is just for experimenting I'd not worry about it. But if you use this for something expect it to just quite working soon-ish.

Concur, drive's starting to fail. The single bad sector doesn't concern me so much as the fact that it's consistently failing SMART self-tests. Speaking of those, I see a couple of issues with your SMART testing schedule:

• You seem to be running the short tests every hour, which really seems excessive--daily is plenty, and even that is probably more than needed
• You don't seem to be running long tests at all--or maybe they're not showing because of all the short tests in the log.
