Can I re-arrange vdev

I just bought a new 4TB HDD, and I was plan to make it stand along without redundancy. While when I insert the disk, I accidently create it as a new vdev to my existed pool(which only have 1 vdev with 1 4TB HDD). I am thinking if any of them failed, my whole pool just crashed. Is there any way to move it out of the pool? Thanks.

No, you'll need to destroy and recreate your pool.

You can remove a top-level VDEV from a pool which doesn't have any RAIDZ VDEVs (seems your pool is one of those) and you're on the laterst version of TrueNAS (not so sure about that... since you're posting in the Legacy topic).

No, you don't, unless OP is using a very old version of FreeNAS. Vdev removal came in somewhere in the 11.x series, and was fully integrated in the web UI in 12.0.
