Hi I recently bought a HP Proliant G7 n54l that I want to set up in to a FreeNAS box and I need a little help.

This is a hyperlink to the specs of the machine

Here is my question

I just burnt a USB drive with FreeNAS on it. How do I verify the disk? When ever I plug it in to a Mac or PC it says the disk is corrupt. Should I be able to see the files on there?

If you need any more information please let me know I'll be happy to provide anything that I have missed out.

Thanks for helping me get past this hurdle. It's all a bit confusing to a n00b!

Stick it in your N54L and boot from it. Hopefully, you followed the directions in the manual to put the OS on the USB drive.

Since you don't have a monitor on your N54L, you may need to hook it up to the one on your pc (temporarily). You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS, to boot to USB first. If the server will live in the vicinity of your pc, you might want to pick up an inexpensive KVM. Or, consider buying the HP remote access card for it.

How do I verify the disk?
