Broadcom 3108 vs Broadcom 3008 - Does it matter?

A lot of Supermicro boards come with the 3108 instead of the 3008.

Not sure if that's good, less stable and/or even a possible deal-breaker.

The SAS3008 is simpler and better. The SAS3108 needs mrsas for direct-attach drives. It works, but has seen far less testing than IT mode.
