I am starting with a new 9.3 box, and after pulling my hair out with Access Denied errors in Windows, I decided to post here.
Following the new wizard was pretty easy, but not everything worked. After recreating the dataset, and rejoining to the domain, the basic configuration seems correct. Permissions are set to "Windows" on the dataset, and I left the default "Apply Default Permissions" checked. Owner is "DOMAIN\Administrator", Owner group is "DOMAIN\Domain Admins".
No matter what I try, I can't access the share, and I can't access the FreeNAS from the Sharing and Storage Manager in Windows to set permissions. What am I doing wrong?
P.S. At other sites I have that are running 9.2.x I was wondering what controls permissions to the Sharing and Storage Management MMC console. How do I allow admins to configure the shares, but not other users?
