C2550D4I: 1st board failed after 20 months use in last July, they (Support in NL) happily replaced after one month wait.
2nd board survived only 5 days, 3rd board got after 2 weeks, and still Rocks from last Sept.
(note nearly 2 months spent with waiting for boards)

Thought I'd give an update.

I received a replacement C2750d4i from Asrock yesterday afternoon, and the board is DOA.

The Avoton boards are prematurely biting the dust for a reason: https://www.extremetech.com/computi...0-bug-killing-products-multiple-manufacturers

Intel has announced faulty silicon was used on the C2000 Avalon CPU's causing early separation of the CPU from the motherboard. Really lessens the chances these devices will make it 3 years. I have two of these boards; been in touch with William Lee at ASRock (apparently he is their only server support person who answers all questions) on two boards. He says their new revision of the board has the replaced silicon on it. I am RMA'ing one board that I have had issues with anyways, I have to pay for return shipping. On another board, I emailed in an RMA stating I wanted the board replaced before it bites the dust with a board that has the correct silicon on it, and he indicated solely because of this issue, ASRock isn't RMAing this board unless it has other issues, but that they are working with Intel to see if there will be an extended warranty. Unfortunately, if the board dies right after the 3yr warranty, which is no likely with this announcement, I doubt it would be replaced under warranty.

I usually purchase Asus or SuperMicro server boards, and this certainly won't encourage me to purchase ASRock serverboards in the future. Especially since all of my email attempts to contact ASRock went unanswered (there is no phone tech support for ASRock either) until I posted on this board in the Newegg reviews that there was no support for this board, and William Lee from ASRock replied via Newegg to contact him.

C2550D4i found with frozen screen after 10 months of low usage backup server. System was cool and dust free with case that has 8x 140mm fans. After powercycle VGA does not work. IPMI responds, shows no errors, has good PSU voltages. IPMI console video (jviewer.jnlp with java 8u121) console has no output. Essentially no post. Changed ram slots. No dice. System dead. Wrote email about RMAing this. Pulled CMOS battery, giving it overnight, but I still consider it dead. .. .. this was my backup server for the C2750d4i. . . . I wonder when that will die.

How are we supposed to discern the newly 'fixed' silicon versions of these boards from the old, in case we need to replace them out of warranty?
They are nearly impossible to buy in Australia now and I'd need to rely on NewEgg or something if it happens in the future.
No real info on the Asrock page for the C2750D4I regarding new HW revisions.

How to recover data with new motherboard?
After about of 1 hour of searching time to recover data, I have to throw up the white flag and ask for help...(ton of info on replacing a failed harddrive but nothing i can find on replacing with different motherboard)
Can anyone point me in the direction to restore my Data... After my C2550 died last week i ordered a new SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SLL-F-O uATX Server board and Xeon E3-1220V3 Haswell 3.1GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA as i can reuse all my hardware. I am sure there is an easy way to recover my Zpool and data but cant seem to find a how too... anyone know how to recover your data if you replace the Motherboard... I had my OS freenas 9.10 on redundent USB drives.
I cant find an offical Freenas how to restore but i did find:
Make install USB.
Do install/upgrade.
Import Config from old USB Boot.
complete install
Import ZSF Pools
be happy my data is still there.

Anyone confirm thats the correct method of reinstall? Also should i have my drive connected or disconnected during the install/upgrade process?

( i will eventually send in my C2550 for RMA, but dont have any intention to use it on my freenas box. Plus i dont want to wait for a month to get it back. I bought it as Open Box from newegg so i have to pay the $50 for repair... )

I just installed my replacement C2750D4I. I did not connect my drives until I had checked that the board would post and I had run through the bios settings. The I installed the "old" boot device and the original drives and the pool automatically imported during the FreeNAS bootup process.

Ahhh... In that situation I would do what you listed, but for complete caution, only installing the HDD's after you have the system up and running and FreeNAS installed and configured with the UPS, etc. The data will be imported when you restart after the HDD install.

Same boot device and pool should work on any board that can boot a FreeNAS install.

Yes, and no. If I recall correctly, if you change the network port's device or internal address, (not IP or MAC), FreeBSD will likely need the network device re-configured.

I'll approximate a quote by @danb35 - the system cares about the driver used. Swapping between systems with the same network card driver will be fine. Swapping between realtek and intel NIC would generate a need for reconfiguration.

Thanks for the clarification.

Just found this thread.... looks like I've been hit by the Intel bug too, although mine lasted over 3 years. I was in the process of looking for a replacement.

C2750D4I
Purchased 2014/1/6
Died 2017/5/21

Lets see what response I get from ASRock.
