Just wanted to check with everyone for any issues on the following build I have planned. Ive read the 2016 hardware guide and have done as much diligence as I can, so think I'm good to go.. just wanted to check for any issues I may have missed.
Purpose: this is a Freenas server for my home, only me using it. Plex, some jails, probably experiment with VMs in the future. Basically I want a server with enough power to grow as my knowledge and curiosity does over the coming years.
MOBO: Supermicro MBD-X11SSM-F-O
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1240 v5
RAM: Samsung 2133mhz 16GB ECC DDR4 UDIMM (M391A2K43BB1-CPB)
comes to a total of about $500 with discounts.
the rest of the stuff I already have laying around:
HDDs: six HGST 4TBs for Raidz2 (4x2)
PSU: I already have a spare a spare Corsair ax86Oi PSU, until I need to use that in a different build I will probably just use it for this. Its complete overkill, but its just gathering dust right now.
CASE: spare fractal design r4
I'm pretty confident this is all ok, but just wanted to double check. Only thing I'm not so sure about is 16gb or 32gb of RAM?. the Samsung is $100 per stick.
Thanks!
