I defined tank as a Volume (which I assume is the same as a zpool in Sun parlance). Then I was trying to get the permissions right, and suddenly Finder (this is in an AFP environment) has a very different name of the topmost entity defined, namely "root".
See this screenshot which shows both Finder and Web views of filesystem:

When I check the file system through Terminal, tank is alive and well, whereas root does not exist.

Who should a poor boy believe?

What is your AFP share name in your settings set to? I don't use AFP but my Volume is named VOlume1 but my CIFS never shows Volume1 as my CIFS share Name is set to something different.

The Volume and datasets where created by the WEBGUI as /tank with two subdirs, /Filmer and /Bilder.

At first these appeared in the WEBGUI and Finder, and I could move files to the dirs.

Then I changed permissions, and consequently /tank was changed to /root. The subdirs remain as before.

I am reasonably sure that on a Solaris system this would be considered a bug. What is the FreeNAS
opinion of this behaviour? Any other name changes one should expect?

peter
