Hi,
Sorry, but I'm very new to ZFS, but as seems convincing we'd love to have a ZFS solution to store our data.
My problem is that we cannot really decide what would be the right hardware and how to implement. Maybe someone could give some advice?
There are two scenarios :
1. reuse and extend the existing hardware HP DL380G5 (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12477_na/12477_na.html) for this an JBOD capable card is required and an DAS
2. invest to a new hardware
What are the requirements :
hot swap 3,5" SATA/SAS disks for the ZFS storage (ideally 2TB SATA plus some SAS for better performance) 12disk
2,5" SSD for cache min 2, but could imagne 4.
What enclosure could support 3,5" and 2,5" disks (available in Europe) - as this has usually controller compability that might give a usable card - the reuse scenario
Or may be easier to start from scrach, but what would be an ideal low cost hardware that is capable for ZFS? (on other requirements, RAM, CPU I think I'm quite clear)...
Please help me build our storge...
