Hi,

I'm trying to add a new drive via ZFS/UFS Volume Manager, but there are no member disks appearing in the list.

The drive does show up under View Disks. I was able to UFS format the drive at the command line.

I'm using FreeNAS-9.2.1.5-RELEASE-x64 (80c1d35) under XenServer 6.2 (I read all the warnings; this is
not a production system).

The drive is a new 2TB Western Digital Black (WD2003FZEX). It's made available to FreeNAS through Xen direct disk access:

http://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/XCP_DirectDiskAccess

Thanks
Yonas

I don't know for sure, but perhaps FreeNAS only lets you add new drives that are not partitioned? Try clicking the "wipe" option after selecting your disk from the Web GUI -> Storage -> View Disks screen and then try again.

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that, but the drive still doesn't show up.

Figured it out... FreeNAS will filter out iSCSI target extents. After removing the iSCSI extent, the drive shows up.

It would be nice if the UI explained why certain devices were excluded from the list, perhaps when the user hovers over a question mark icon.
