Hey guys,

I'm in a search for a NAS solution for quit some time now. I want to build it myself and yesterday I stumbled upon a what seems to be a good (buget) starting point - preconfigured desktop box I think I could easly use as a NAS.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
Mobo: ASUS PRIME A320M-K
Memory: 16gb DDR 2400Mhz (Kingston KVR24N17D8/16)
Install storage: 480gb SSD (Kingston SA400S37/480G)
Some generic PC case and power

This all is on sale for around $280 - I think it is OK price for the juice it offers. I would add two 4tb WD Reds for storage.

I would use this NAS mainly for family stuff - (photos, videos, docs, music...), probably a VPN and maybe a few other smaller apps, and for TimeMachine and other backups.

Plex would be considered as a bonus, although it's not a party breaker. Would probably just want to watch the family pictures and videos (up to 1080p, no 4k for now) on a TV.

Do you think this can be a good enough setup?

Cheers!

I forgot to mention that I would probably buy some more appropriate power supply and also i would probably move from SSD to a M.2 SSD at some point as I think 480gb SSD is an overkill and also in order to make a room for two more HDDs as mobo offers 4 SATA III connectors.
