Weird thing happening during burn-in

Hi guys,

I am burning-in 3 3tb drives using badblocks on tmux (badblocks -b 4096 -ws /dev/adaX). Two were completed without any issues, but I think (effectively know at this point) that the third drive is dead. It is currently still "working", but is just scrolling through numbers extremely fast... like 10 per second (screenshot attached). Is there any point letting it continue?

Thanks!

Two options that could perhaps explain this:

  1. Dead drive, or
  2. Bad cable.

In either case, there is no point to continuing. I'd recommend stopping, reseating the SATA cable on both ends, then trying again. If the errors persist, either try a different SATA cable, or try the drive in another computer to determine if the drive is truly dead.

Good luck.

Thanks, do you have any idea what BB is trying to do? I have never seen that before...

Thanks - makes sense. I replace the disk and burning-in the new one.
