Hello,

I have 2 FreeNAS SANs, 7 VMware hosts, and about 30 VMs. I want my storage to be fault tolerant in case one of the SANs ever goes down. My original plan was to setup fault tolerance and use my FreeNAS1 box to hold the original VM and my FreeNAS2 box to hold the secondary VM that is created but VMware won't allow me to run a configuration like this. How can I use my 2 FreeNAS boxes to have storage redundancy in VMware and keep my VMs up and running if one of my SANs goes down?

You may be looking for something like HAST (or DRBD in Linux). This isn't currently something FreeNAS offers, largely because it's a huge amount of fiddly work to get right for even limited scenarios, and right now there are lots of other features that FreeNAS can develop that are more in demand. I'd say it's probably coming down the road.
