Hi,
i use freenas in the newest version x64.
i use the get the NXB-10G Card running.
Driver downloaded from here:
ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/LAN/10_Gigabit_Ethernet_PCIe_Adapter/Linux/

I used to install it with the following commands in the shell:

su
tar xvzf 3.4.216.tar.gz
cd 3.4.216
make
make install

It returns some "Makefile" line errors like Missing dependency operator or need aperator.
And
Error expanding embedded variable.

Is this a 64 bit problem, wrong driver for freenas or is the file corrupt?

Many thanks for your help!

I could be mistaken, but I'm not sure that Linux drivers will work with FreeBSD. A quick search did not turn up any support for the NXB-10G in FreeBSD. You may need to look at a Linux based NAS like OpenMediaVault if you're set on using this hardware. :(

hi,
thank you for your quick reply.
I hope someone else has the sameproblem.
FreeNas is really good and i don`t want to use another os.
Are there 10 Gig LAN Cards which run good with freenas?

I know Intel has some FreeBSD-happy 10Gb cards, though I don't know which ones. Google around for FreeBSD and 10Gb NICs. See what you can find out there vs what you can get at your favorite tech shop.

Alternately, have you considered NIC teaming a couple of gigabit cards?

Solution:

I returned the 10 GbE Card to the dealer and bought a intel 520 10 GbE card.
After i changed the card and reboot the system everything works fine.
Data rate is about 3.8 G says the freenas System monitor.

Thank you guys for your help.
