Upgrade 9.10 -> 11.2 (or 9.10 -> 11.0 -> 11.2)

I have a FreeNAS running 9.10 (9.10.2-U6), with a handful of custom jails.

Can I switch directly to the 11.2 chain? Or do I need to upgrade to the 11.0 chain first? (Forum has questions about 9.2, 9.10, etc., but I couldn't find anyone asking this exact question)

Anything I should know? I understand that if something fails, I can just switch the boot back to the existing, running 9.10.2.... but other than that, anything to know?

Since the leap from 9.10 to 11.2 represents nearly 3 years worth of changes, it is recommended to migrate in stages: 9.10 -> 11.1 -> 11.2. Make sure you have a backup of your config as updates can take a toll on USB boot devices. And to verify your config still works in 11.1 before proceeding to 11.2.
